Improve Toggle Behavior
Sankari Nair
There seem to be several feature requests around improving the toggle behavior, including being able to nest them, drag content into them, and ensure that they are overall more reliable.

Allow Nested Toggles

Ed Ferrigan
Right now I can only have a top level toggle. I may have several layers of nested toggles in and given block.

When toggle closed, and I press return, add another title instead of opening the subordinate list.

Right now when I press return on a closed toggle you are opening the list. My preference is if the toggle is closed and I press return you start another potential heading instead. Here is a video showing you. https://share.zight.com/v1u8OGRq

BUG: Selecting "Heading" within Toggle and typing immediately does not update actual heading
A
Alice Price
I think this may be a bug - but if I type:
- "/Toggle"
- "Heading 1" (or 2, 3, etc. all acts the same)
- Add in my text --> this text does not actually update the Heading, but instead is invisible. If you expand the Toggle, the text I just typed in Step 3 shows up as normal text within the Toggle.
It would be great if after typing in "Heading 1", it acted the same as it would outside of the Toggle which is that the text appears immediately in that Heading 1 format.

Outline collapse/expand outside of toggle

I'm looking for something simple to edit text (really checklists) to collapse/expand any hierarchy level. Toggles are nice, but I'd prefer something simpler when braindumping.

Drag blocks into a toggle

To add a block to a toggle in the new editor, you have to cut and paste it in. It would be nice if blocks could be dragged to the toggled block.

Add toggle heading 1,2,3,4

Please add toggle heading 1,2,3,4 because usually i have lots of text in one page and it is easier to read if i can just toggle it. Currently, i can’t even put a toggle docs inside a toggle docs to create hierarchy

Collapse a section under a heading

Request the ability to collapse sections of a card. This is a common feature elsewhere.

Sorry, adding to that, if a checklist level that contains children, it would be nice to be able to convert the parent and its children into a separate notebook

Additional info. A toggle is a container, and if it contains items, they need to be created within it or copied/moved into it. If the toggle is turned into another type, its contents are moved out. For checklists, it's much simpler to indent/outdent. The outcome is basically the same, except that a level in the checklist can't collapse/expand its children.

Sure. For context, I'd like to keep my request simple since it's not fully about the core recall functionality but more about adding to the checklist capability. I like to use outliners since that's how my brain thinks.
For example, when working with a long checklist of 20-100+ items, I can have up to 10 level 1 items and a fair number of level 2 and lower-level items. I like to collapse level 2 and lower items while I flesh out the rest of my entire outline. This allows me to quickly get into my stream-of-consciousness flow. I like outliners that let me drag any level to another location in my hierarchy and to expand, add/edit, and collapse quickly for for a single item (e.g., just this item) with sub-items or a specific level (e.g., expand all level 1 or level 3 items).
With toggles, I have to think about a toggle organization ahead of time or during my flow, create a toggle, copy/move items within it, then resume my flow. It makes it harder (more steps) to restructure if I want to copy/move something out of a toggle elsewhere.
A toggle is a top-level collapse/expand where I want it at every level. Maybe it's there, and I missed it.
Thanks!
